Our Story
Sacred stories, stitched by hand: A living, contemporary voice for imagery India has loved for centuries.
KURU Studio began with a simple conviction: that the gods, myths and motifs India has loved for centuries deserve a living, contemporary voice something you can hold, hang, and hand down.
We are a hand-embroidery atelier based in Gurugram. Every piece we make is built entirely by hand: French knots, beadwork, sequins, zari and thread layered over weeks and months until a figure rises from the cloth in colour and relief. There are no shortcuts. Each work is unique, and no two are ever alike.
KURU was founded by our creative director Shantnu Sihag in 2026, and every piece still passes through our studio's hands before it reaches yours.
THE CRAFT
Thousands of hours by hand
Our subjects are drawn from a shared inheritance: Ganesha, Krishna, Hanuman, and the stories that surround them which are reimagined in a palette that are't afraid of joy.
Traditional iconography, a modern eye, and thousands of hours of handwork: that is the KURU signature.

We believe art like this is meant to be lived with, not locked away. A KURU piece is an heirloom in the making — a devotional presence for a modern home, and a quiet record of the hands that made it.
